Killowen Rum & Raisin takes single malt from Great Northern Distillery in County Louth and finishes it at Killowen. After bourbon-cask maturation, the whiskey is divided between the distillery's own dark-rum casks and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks before blending. The name describes the cask-driven flavor profile; this is whiskey, not a rum-and-raisin liqueur.
Tasting Notes
Dark-rum finishing contributes tropical coconut and vanilla notes. PX sherry adds prunes, figs and raisins, creating a layered, dessert-like fruit character.
