Don Mateo de la Sierra Alto Blanco is an unaged mezcal from Michoacán, Mexico, made from Alto agave (Agave inaequidens). Distiller Emilio Vieyra's traditional process brings the plant's fresh, forest-like character forward without barrel aging. Alto is distinct from the producer's Cupreata and other agave expressions.
Tasting notes
Green herb and citrus aromas mingle with impressions of damp leaves, mint and wet stone. The palate is lively and earthy, with peppery accents and restrained smoke.
