Aged for 12 years and bottled at 92 proof, this release departs from Old Forester's usual fermentation process: instead of using setback from an earlier batch, the distillery employed a sweet mash made with freshly propagated yeast. The 2025 selection came from 210 barrels distilled on April 5, 2013, and matured in Warehouse K. This is the genuine 2025 expression, not the 2024 high-proof release.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Herbal tea and cardamom accented by raw oak, tropical fruit and green apple.

Palate: Silky oak and vanilla balanced by sweet citrus and clove spice.

Finish: Candied apple and burnt sugar linger with leather and warming chai spice.

Product Details

Producer: Old Forester

Collection: Birthday Bourbon — 25th annual edition

Release year: 2025

Age: 12 years

Proof: 92

ABV: 46%

Fermentation: Sweet mash

Distillation date: April 5, 2013

Barrels: 210 selected from Warehouse K

Bottle size: 700ml — confirmed by UPC and official release information

Why You'll Love It

The 2025 edition has a production story unlike typical Birthday Bourbon releases.
